The Group

The HYD&AU Group (Hydraulics & Automation) was created in 1977 from family-run company ATH (Applications Techniques Hydrauliques) and strengthened by a dynamic external growth strategy spearheaded in the early 2000s. The HYD&AU Group today is a French medium size company with 300 employees. It generates revenue of €50 million (2015 figures) and delivers an end-to-end range of mechatronics solutions.

With CEO David Couillandeau at the helm, HYD&AU has carved nationwide leadership status in the hydraulics industry.

Its business areas are grouped around two activities.


  • Engineering, Design
  • Assembly of hydraulic systems
  • Building training units
  • Sale of components : hydraulics, filtration, instrumentation
  • Services : maintenance, repairs and fluid management
  • Training on test benches and simulation software
  • Manufacture of control blocks (definition and machining)


  • Electricity-automated systems : design and development of industrial electrical cabinets, design of automated systems and creation of wiring assemblies
  • Hydraulic cylinders : design and manufacture of mechanically-welded steel or stainless steel hydraulic cylinders, and cylinder repairs
  • Special machines : design and development of complete industrial processes and equipment, and design and development of mobile variable message signs
  • Drag chains : design and manufacture

HYD&AU customers are mainly industrial customers operating in energy (hydroelectricity, thermal power plants, nuclear plants, etc.), oil & gas, mining, transport, water treatment, marine equipment, timber processing, agricultural machinery, petrochemicals, the steel industry, etc.

International presence

HYD&AU exports its hydraulics and automated systems products and installations to Europe and the rest of the world. The Group is the French leader in hydraulic systems with 14 sites across France, one subsidiary in Europe (Luxembourg) and one subsidiary in Africa (in Morocco). HYD&AU is currently establishing sites in India in a bid to deploy its activities in the energy, nuclear and wind power sectors.
